"September" is another still life created by artist Meghdeep Sarkar. While the negative space used in the last piece I posted of Sarkar's, along with most of the other pieces I have analyzed so far, is used to create one of the main basic shapes of the design, the negative space in "September" is used to create the highlights of the design. The shadows within the piece are flat shapes of navy with the base color of the oranges, bowl, and leaf being an orange. Once again, Sarkar uses a simple color palette in this piece that feels neutral. The dark navy used for the shadows rather than stark black works well in creating this neutral palette because it isn't too overly harsh against the orange and yellow used in the piece.
